Technical Writing: Biomedical Projects

Structural Biology Project

This project focuses on the fields of structural genomics and functional proteomics, specifically the technology needed to determine the function and three-dimensional structure of proteins associated with the toxicity of potential bioterrorism agents such as botulism.  The design of drugs to counter the toxicity is also part of this project scope.  I am responsible for tracking the technical progress in the field as well as monitoring the developing intellectual property.

Molecular Diagnostics Project

This project focuses on the field of infectious disease diagnostics using genomics technology. My reesarch provides technical background to the client, as well as information on intellectual property awards, grants, and current news and events.

Microfluidic Devices

This project focus on the development of a microfluidic platform that integrates sample preparation, single cell analysis, and analysis of small numbers of lysed cells. My research encompasses tracking technical developments in this field, as well as broader developments in the fields of cell signaling, systems biology, and computational biology.

Other

For a variety of other projects, I have written about the effects of toxins on the human body, vaccine and vaccine adjuvant technologies, gene therapy, epidemiology, and epidemic modeling.

Technical Writing: Solid State Lighting

This project focuses on the technology needed to develop and implement a solid-state replacement for the incandescent light bulb, emitting a white light bright enough for use in homes and businesses.  Included in this project is the development of a searchable intellectual property database.  Minor projects in the solid state lighting area include researching the intellectual property relating to quantum dots and providing market intelligence on selected companies.
